On May 13, 2025, a Lockheed C-130H Hercules with code FAE-898, operated by the Ecuadorian Air Force (Fuerza Aérea Ecuatoriana), experienced an uncontrolled movement incident at Latacunga-Cotopaxi International Airport in Ecuador. While being prepared for an internal flight, as the flight crew started the engines, the aircraft began an uncommanded roll across the ramp area. Both the main and emergency brake systems reportedly failed to respond, preventing the aircraft from stopping. The uncontrolled movement ended when the nose of the aircraft dropped into a nearby drainage ditch, where it came to a stop. The crew shut down the aircraft and evacuated safely with no injuries reported. The aircraft was later recovered to the ramp, with minor and repairable damage. The Ecuadorian Air Force has launched an investigation into the cause of the brake failure.
